Job Overview

We seek a skilled and motivated frontend developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will deeply understand Shopify’s platform, including Liquid templating, and have experience in developing custom Shopify themes and apps. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, is passionate about e-commerce, and enjoys solving complex problems to deliver seamless user experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement high-quality, responsive Shopify themes tailored to client needs.
  • Customize and enhance Shopify storefronts using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Liquid.
  • Collaborate with designers and backend developers to integrate UI/UX designs with Shopify’s ecosystem.
  • Optimize storefronts for performance, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve front-end issues to maintain a seamless user experience.
  • Stay updated on Shopify’s latest features, best practices, and eCommerce trends.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Frontend Engineer with a focus on Shopify development.
  • Strong proficiency in Shopify’s Liquid templating language.
  • Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (including frameworks like React or Vue.js).
  • Familiarity with Shopify APIs and third-party app integrations.
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Shopify Plus.
  • Understanding of SEO principles and eCommerce best practices.
  • Knowledge of headless Shopify architecture.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.

First 30 Days: Setup and Initial Development

  • Orientation and Learning:
    • Understand project objectives, and existing frontend architecture.
    • Review design and functionality requirements in detail.
  • Start Development on Basic UI:
    • Implement static content pages like About Us, Privacy Policy, and initial blog setup.
    • Begin work on essential components like the product page templates and user account management interfaces.

Days 31-60: Intensive Development of Interactive Elements

  • Develop Interactive UI Components:
    • Build out the shopping cart functionality, including add-to-cart and wishlist features.
    • Create and test the product discovery features using filters, sorting options, and integration with the Google Merchant Center for product visibility.
  • Responsive and Accessible Design:
    • Ensure all components are fully responsive and accessible, following WCAG guidelines.
    • Collaborate with UX designers to refine UI elements and ensure an optimal user experience.

Days 61-90: Finalizing and Testing

  • Finalize UI for Advanced Features:
    • Complete the UI for community features like forums, customer interaction, and support.
    • Integrate real-time inventory updates and live shipping tracking functionalities.
  • Testing and Refinement:
    • Perform detailed UI/UX testing across all devices and platforms.
    • Work with backend developers to address any integration issues.
  • Preparation for Post-Launch Features:
    • Begin developing the frontend for post-launch enhancements such as AI-driven chatbots and expanded FAQs.
    • Prepare the frontend for quick deployments of future updates and features.
